OUR MISSION

We want to break the stigma of male mental health and get men talking, because TALKING SAVES LIVES.

We're not mental health professionals, we're not psychiatrists and we're not therapists. There are so many incredible charities, organisations and professionals out there that can offer life-changing mental health support. We have a list of organisations that offer incredible support here. Unfortunately, I'm sure you've been told to "Man Up", "Suck it up and deal with it" or "Your feelings don't matter". And this is toxic, dangerous and incredibly unhealthy. Without an outlet, emotions bubble under the surface and this leads to depression, anxiety, anger issues, substance abuse, self-harm and suicide. And that's the issue that we want to address! If we can get men talking, we can avoid this unnecessary suffering. Talking saves lives, we just need to break the stigma of male mental health, tear down those internal barriers and make everyone feel safe and comfortable to open up and talk from the heart.

In England and Wales, men die by suicide at a rate 3 times more often women. Nearly 12 men lose their lives to suicide every day, which is approximately 4,200 male suicides each year!

HOW WILL SAD CAT UK HELP?

PHASE ONE

The first focus of the business will be in clothing. We plan on creating many different designs that will (hopefully) start meaningful conversations. By wearing a t-shirt with "Real Men Cry" or a hoodie with "Brothers, Fathers, Sons and Uncles struggle too" out in public, it's putting positive messages into the world, starting meaningful conversations and hopefully helping men to feel comfortable enough to talk about their own mental health. Talking saves lives and we would love for our clothing to be the the starting point to those conversations!

PHASE TWO

As the business grows, we would love to launch a podcast and create a video series where we chat to men that are currently experiencing poor mental health, men that have overcome their darkest days and even get some celebrities on board to help push the conversation further into the spotlight. We would love to interview mental health professionals and share some life-changing tips and advise.

DONATION & SUPPORT

We promise to share the profits of the business with mental health charities, including Mind and we will invest the remaining profits into growing SAD CAT. This will consist of investing in new, eye-catching designs, purchasing more stock, creating helpful content, marketing and loads more! The biggers SAD CAT becomes, the more men we can help!
